TEMPLES 

Take the cable car to the top of the mountain on Lantau Island. You can visit the monastery there and see the Big Buddha. You can eat a delicious vegetarian meal and go for a walk along Wisdom Path. Click on the photo to learn more. There is so much to do!

Chi Lin Nunnery is a large buddhist temple in Kowloon. You can see the beautiful Tang dynasty buildings and many buddha statues. After, you can take a walk in Nan Liang Garden to relax. Sit by the pond and enjoy the scenery.

Man Mo Temple sits on a very busy street in Sheung Wan. It was built to worship the god of literature, Man, and the god of war or fighting, Mo. Students visit the temple to pray for good marks on their exams! 

You need to climb 430 steps uphill to get to the temples, but along the way, you can see hundreds of life-sized golden buddha statues. Look carefully! Each one is different! At the top, you will see a tall red pagoda and the Main Hall with ten thousand (10,000) buddha statues.

Located in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon, this taoist temple is very popular at Chinese New Year. Many people go to the temple to make wishes with incense sticks. They also make wishes with fortune sticks. 

There are more than 60 Tin Hau temples all over Hong Kong. (see map) There is even a floating temple! Fishermen went to the temples to worship the goddess of the sea. The most famous Tin Hau temple is in Yau Ma Tei. It was once on the seaside but now it is in the middle of Kowloon!
